Oriki Special Greg de Villanova (Oriki Music)

To kick off 2013 in style we’re proud to present a mix from Greg de Villanova, long-time DJ and boss of the excellent Oriki label.

Renowned for his deep and eclectic selections, Greg has been a mainstay of the tropical scene since first catching the vinyl bug in 1992.  Building on his initial parties in Salvador de Bahia in the late ’90s, he splits his time between Paris, Brazil and West Africa, dropping his blend of Latin, African, Brazilian and souful sounds at clubs all over the place ever since.

In 2006 he set up the renowned Oriki label and has released crucial collections of artists such as Orchestre Baobab, Moussa Doumbia and Amadou Balake as well as new material from Brazilian groups Liberdade and Burro Morto.

He has put together a broad mix that covers heavy Brazilian and Caribbean sounds alongside a touch of soul to shake the January blues out of your ears, enjoy….
